WIP: United Baristas Market updates – March 2022
We have been implementing many small updates to United Baristas Market.
It's going rather well. There's been significant changes to the infrastructure and backend with little disruption to people using United Baristas Market day-to-day. 💪
We appreciate that some things have been a little unusual or temporarily not working while batches of updates are implemented. Thanks for your patience 🙏 – it's going to be great once we've finished.
Here's some of the changes:
Updated People Profiles
We are implementing new profiles for individuals on United Baristas Market to make listing items easier. • New people category: https://market.unitedbaristas.com/list/community/people/ • New design and functions are being introduced You can use currently available functions while we do this work and we'll be updating relevant people when this feature is implemented so you can finish updating your profile and benefit from the new functions. 💪

What we are currently working on
There's two key tasks to be done before we can finesse and finish this first phase of work. Specifically implementing new Company Profiles (which will replace market stalls) and updating the Commercial listings (which was business & property).

New Companies Profiles on United Baristas Market
We are starting to implement new Company Profiles on United Baristas Market. • Market Stalls will be transitioned to new Company Profiles – we will let you know when you have to update your profile New Company Profiles have a host of new features. Watch this space for details.

What's next?
We have now internally confirmed and resourced the scope of work for the current phase.
As well as finishing the above tasks, some of the changes we have already made require time for new listings to be added to we can finish implementing new functions.
For example, we've already made changes to how espresso machines are added (specifically La Marzocco).
If the average espresso machine listing duration is 60 days, then we need to wait ~45 days for the clear majority of listings to have the new information so we can finish implementing the new searches/filters in a way that is useful for people using United Baristas Market.
This means we're currently tracking towards finishing this phase of work in April 2022.
People adding listings should experience little disruption, but some things will be modified/different.
Once things have progressed further, we will reach out to help people with existing profiles get them set up to take advantage of the new features and prepare for the new functions to be built in phase 2.
